An elderly man will face court accused of sexually assaulting an 87-year-old woman at a Sydney aged care home.
Police were called to the facility in the city’s north-west on Friday after reports a resident had been attacked.
Officers were told a man known to visit the facility had entered the woman’s room on two occasions before sexually assaulting her.
She was treated by paramedics at the home and then taken to Royal North Shore hospital.
It was determined she had not suffered serious physical injury.
A crime scene was established before detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Asquith about 7.40pm and arrested an 80-year-old man.
He has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexually touching another person and failing to comply with a direction regarding the storage of a firearm.
The man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta local court on Saturday.
