American filmmaker Michael Moore has some harsh words for the Democratic Party amid questions about U.S. President Joe Biden’s health and whether he can lead the country in a second term.

In an interview with MSNBC over the weekend, Moore said it was “heartbreaking” to watch Biden struggle during last month’s debate with presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump on CNN.
“The problem here is that I think there is a form of elder abuse going on here where the Democratic Party and the people that are part of the apparatus are pushing and pushing him to stay,” Moore told MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin.
“And then he comes out and says, ‘I am staying,’ and the family says, ‘I am staying.’”
Moore said, despite his recent criticisms of Biden, especially his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas, the debate was tough to watch and he pointed the finger squarely at the president’s handlers.
“It was like, imagine that was your father up there,” Moore said. “I’m thinking, why isn’t anybody doing anything? Why did they let him go out on the stage in this condition? Who is looking out for him? Who is looking out for him right now?”

The ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ and ‘Roger & Me’ suggested Biden should be medically examined so that supporters can be sure that he is able to perform his duties as the American leader into a possible second term.
“Something was wrong that night,” Moore said. “We all saw it. We can’t unsee it, and, as Richard Pryor and before that Chico Marx said, ‘Who are you going to believe? Me or your own lying eyes?’ My eyes weren’t lying and yours weren’t either.”
Moore said he is not calling for Biden to halt his reelection campaign, but would like to immediately see some form of health review for the president.
“We need independent doctors or a doctor that will do a neurological exam, a full medical evaluation,” Moore said. “Why don’t they do that? If it is all good, it will put to rest so much of this and then they can say he had a bad night. But they are not doing that. Why are they risking our country?”
