Dream Home with Chris Brown: Last minute storm disaster leaves Hannah and Jonny in tears

The tears were flowing almost as heavily as the rain on Tuesday night’s episode of Dream Home after wild weather ruined one couple’s renovation plans.

Hannah and Jonny wanted to give Liam a dream facade for his Deception Bay home in Queensland when a storm began rolling in just as the couple got to the pointy end of the day’s work.

The plan was to create a “coastal Scandi” vibe for Liam’s home and edge their way upwards into the top three.

But the elements ended up working against them.

“I can hear thunder right on the horizon over there,” Jonny said.

“I just want to get this front part done before the storm comes.”

As the rain began to pour down, tradies were racing against the clock to get grass laid, mortar a stone feature wall, remove the front scaffolding and get a children’s swing installed.

Gutted by this weather blip beyond their control, a defeated-sounding Jonny admitted they would not have the place looking as they wanted it to before the next reveal.

“We’re not gonna finish it the way we wanted it to be,” he said.

“We’ll have a driveway, we’ll have turf, we’ll have garden beds, we’ll have a tree …” an emotional Hannah added.

But there was so much more to come — until the storm put those plans to rest.

“It’s almost an impossible task,” she said.

Finally breaking down in tears, she added: “It’s just the last thing you need at the eleventh hour.”

“Half of our garden is not full because we’ve only just been able to get the (scaffolding) out, and we’ve just realised we don’t have enough turf,” she continued.

“There’s gonna be no lights in the garden, we’re not going to be able to do the crazy paved steppers … so all the things that add personality to a garden bed, outside of garden beds and turf, are not there.

“We’re not finishing.”

Hannah said she was gutted they would not be able to give Liam and his partner Shannon — or the judges — the “wow factor” moment they had been aiming for.

Jonny gave Hannah a huge hug, also clearly gutted that things had not gone according to plan.

“I don’t want to feel like we’ve, like, let them down,” Hannah said, wiping tears away.

Dream Home continues Sunday at 7pm on Seven and 7plus.
