Dr Michael Mosley has urged people looking to improve their health to take a certain supplement, particularly if their diet isn’t packed with oily fish, nuts and seeds, and plant oils.
Famed for his Fast 800 eating plan, he took to Instagram to recommend omega-3.
He said: “Omega-3 is a great all-round supplement that will help improve metabolic health.
“Taking omega-3 and eating oily fish on a regular basis may help to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, central obesity, blood pressure, insulin resistance, cholesterol and inflammation.”
Omega 3 capsules containing 1,000mg of omega-3, are available from Simply Supplements – 360 capsules for £16.99.
Dr Mosley said there is also research to suggest omega-3 helps improve mood and increases brain function.
On his BBC Sounds podcast Just One Thing, he revealed he used to have fish.
But he now tries different recipes that involve the “great brain food”.
During an episode that aired in 2022, Dr Mosley explained there are two “important” omega-3 fatty acids when it comes to fish – EPA and DHA.
He said: “These have been extensively studied and shown to help reduce inflammation, which is associated with a whole host of negative health outcomes, like heart disease and dementia.”
