Caltabiano also said Nixon’s testimony was not reliable or credible.

Nixon claimed Kahaliqi threw a parcel at him and also insulted his partner Melissa Huynh.

He said he was punched and kicked as the postie “went off his head”.

But magistrate Caltabiano said he was satisfied that there was no reasonable basis for Nixon to believe that he needed to defend himself.

“I am satisfied that Nixon assaulted Mr Kahaliqi while they were standing at the door,” he said.

“I am satisfied Mr Nixon then dragged him in (to his property) and further assaulted him.”

After the hearing, Nixon told reporters outside the court that he felt “unbelievably good”.

Nixon then jumped into a limousine … complete with a driver who was dressed as a character from the famous 1980 cult movie, The Blues Brothers.

As Nixon crawled into the back seat, the driver then grabbed his chance to speak to the media.

“We’ll talk to Bob and get back to you,” the driver said with an American accent, referencing a line from the film.

Nixon (also known as ‘Chicken’ or ‘Chicken Train’) is a former AFL player, and played for Carlton, St Kilda and Hawthorn during the 80s and early 90s.

He became a pioneering high-profile player agent in the 1990s, signing the biggest names in the AFL to his Club 10 team.

Since then he has been involved in many controversies, including having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old schoolgirl, pleading guilty of insulting an ex-partner, and the sale of allegedly fake football memorabilia.

He will be sentenced later this month.
