They were both driving on Oxley Dr in Coombabah in February when the pair started trading insults from their cars after the victim told May to turn his music down.
The man filmed May throwing a bottle full of a yellow liquid at him.
May sped up the road, before doing a u-turn and ramming the man’s car.
The man, who had stepped out of his car, was uninjured and ran away when May started chasing him on foot.
May was arrested that night in Southport.
He was charged with dangerous driving, unlicensed driving and endangering the safe use of a vehicle by throwing an object.
The court heard May had anger issues and had been previously sentenced to community service over another road-rage incident.
He has been put on probation for the 20 months after he serves his jail term, while his licence has been disqualified for three years.
