Among fashion writers and editors, there’s an unspoken agreement that changing outfits between fashion week engagements is gauche. (Recently, when asked if one should change outfits between shows, Lynn Yaeger told Vogue, “No, I’m not an influencer. That’s for a silly person. That’s not for a grown-up. No, no. Silly!”) To many, it signals that the outfit changer has nothing better to do than to go back to their hotel and re-glam—no “real” job to juggle, no laptop to schlep.
With their combined fashion show experience, it seems that Dakota Johnson and Daisy Edgar-Jones both picked up on this industry taboo. Yesterday, after Sabato De Sarno presented his spring 2025 collection for Gucci, the two were among the attendees to hit the after-party in Milan. But, instead of doing a sartorial 180, they chose to restyle some pieces from their show outfits.
Johnson held onto her oversized black leather croc-embossed blazer, although she traded in her sheer resort 2025 dress covered in daisy appliqués. She kept the diaphanous theme going with a black monogram bodysuit which she styled with a casual pair of wide-legged blue jeans.
Edgar-Jones also attended the show in a resort 2025 look: a white crocheted bra top, cardigan, and shorts set, which she wore with brown horsebit ballet flats and an oversized brown bag. The actor ditched her summery shorts for the fête, instead donning a pair of light-wash straight-legged jeans and a black logo belt. She also swapped her oversized tote for a small black shoulder bag.
With so many full runway looks hitting the front rows during fashion week, seeing how the VIP guests play around with their outfits certainly helps make a strong case for changing between events. For Dakota Johnson and Daisy Edgar-Jones, we’ll allow it!
