Tonightâs BAFTAs is a full-circle moment for DaâVine Joy Randolph. âIâm so excited; itâs my first time [at the BAFTAs],â the actorâwho would go on to win the best-supporting-actress prize for her stellar performance in The Holdoversâtells Vogue over the phone a few hours ahead of the ceremony. âItâs such a deep honor to be nominated as my career started here [in London]; it means a lot.â
It makes sense, then, that Randolphâwho got her big break on the West End in *Ghost: The Musicalâ*decided to pay tribute to the British capital on the red carpet via a custom gown by London-based designer Robert Wun. A modern take on old-school Hollywood glamour, the one-shouldered dressâbased on look 20 from Wunâs spring/summer 2024 couture collectionâfeatures a peach corset and black velvet skirt with a dramatic train.
âItâs beautifully draped,â the actor says of the gown, which she paired with black opera gloves, adding that âelegance, opulence and timelessnessâ are important attributes for her awards season looks. Randolph, a self-confessed fashion lover, actually came across Wunâs latest couture collection via the Vogue Runway app. âIt gives me notifications when certain shows are dropping,â she says. âI looked through [Wunâs] haute couture show and thought it was so provocative; I thought it was amazing.â
Ahead of a major awards ceremony, Randolph likes to prep her skin with an âaggressive facialâ from FaceGym, before having a lymphatic drainage massage âto get all the puffiness and any extra fluid out.â For her beauty look, the brief was âpolished and elegant,â with the actor wearing her bleached-blonde hair in a quiff, tying into the Old Hollywood glamour theme.
