Cynthia Erivo is sure to be “Popular” on the Oscars red carpet with her bejeweled, negative-space manicure, which appears to be — you guessed it — “Defying Gravity.” (In case you missed it: Erivo stars in the highly-anticipated Wicked movie-musical out this fall.) The stiletto-shaped nail look was created by manicurist Rose Hackle, who also created Erivo’s red-hot tips at the SAG Awards.
Erivo turned the Oscars into the Oz-cars with a Louis Vuitton dress that nods — actually, more like screams and points — to her role as Elphaba, the famously-green witch. She completed the look with a wash of forest-green eyeshadow (Kjaer Weis Cream Eyeshadow in Sublime, expertly applied along the lashline by makeup artist Joanna Simkin), emerald jewelry and the aforementioned manicure, which was an accessory in its own right: Erivo’s nails were bedazzled with crystals. Her thumbs, in particular, were completely covered with a combination of clear- and emerald-toned jewels.
