Popular country singer Ingrid Andress has taken to social media to apologise and clear the air over national anthem trainwreck.
Performing at a Major League Baseball event this week, Andress was widely lashed for her performance, with many calling it the worst Star Spangled Banner ever.

While that may have been an overreaction given some the country’s anthem lowlights, it certainly wasn’t good.
But now Andress — who has performed with music legends such as Keith Urban and Stevie Nicks — has explained her actions on Instagram.
“I’m not gonna bulls*** y’all, I was drunk last night,” Andress said.
“I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologise to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.
“I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun.”
Andress has also cancelled her upcoming shows in Nashville and Denver.
It has been reported that the concert venues are now trying to get refunds to ticket buyers.
Soon after the Grammy-nominated star’s performance at the Home Run Derby on Tuesday (AEST), memes and jokes quickly followed.
And with Donald Trump’s assassination attempt fresh on everyone’s mind, images of a bloodied ear were quick to surface.
“That Ingrid Andress national anthem might have been the worst thing to happen in America in the last 48 hours,” one critic blasted on X (formerly Twitter).
And baseball journalist Michael Schwab said: “My ears are bleeding. One of the worst national anthem renditions ever.”
While another fan joked: “Tough week to be an ear in America.”
Her performance joined a conga line of bad anthem performances in the States, namely from comedian Roseanne Barr (1990), sprinter Carl Lewis (1993) and former Black Eyed Peas star Fergie (2018).
Fergie even issued a statement after her howler and apologised to the country.
“Fergie thanks her for taking the prize (of worst performance,” Schwab said.
But not all were on board with that assessment.
“Rosanne still has the prize, but she’s right up there,” a fan weighed in.
“Carl Lewis will not be denied,” another fan said.
Andress is about to release a new single called Colorado 9.
