The Mounties confirmed that two women who vanished from Dawson Creek, B.C., have been found dead just weeks apart.
Investigators said Tuesday that the remains of Darylyn Supernant, 29 when she vanished on March 15, 2023, have now been identified. Her remains were discovered on April 19, 2024, on a Dawson Creek road. DNA was used to identify the body.
The discovery comes on the heels of the May 18 discovery of her cousin Renee Didier’s remains near the Kiskatinaw River, west of the city of 12,000. She disappeared on Dec. 2, 2023.
So far investigators have not confirmed whether the deaths of the two women have been classified as homicides.
In recent years, once quiet Dawson Creek has become a gang battleground with a flourishing drug subculture. The RCMP even brought in additional Uniform Gang Enforcement Team officers to support overwhelmed local police.

Last January, Supernant’s mother fretted about her daughter’s disappearance and worried that her illicit drug use may have been a death sentence.
“I look at cars differently. I look at people differently. I look at roads differently. My mind is different now,” Shelley Supernant told CBC News. “A lot of people in Dawson Creek are on edge.”
Supernant said her “happy-go-lucky” daughter had an infectious laugh but she worried about Darylyn’s “high-risk” lifestyle. She added that when a week went by without hearing from her, she feared the worst.
More worrisome, the two cousins — both are Cree — were just two of the four people in the area who vanished in 2023.
Another missing local is Dave Daniel Domingo, 24, who was believed to have been in a rural area near the town on Aug. 29, 2023, when officers responded to reports of a possible shooting.
Cole Hosack, 24, from Prince George, was last seen on New Year’s Eve at the same watering hole where Didier was spotted just before she vanished. The bar has since been shuttered and cops say they don’t think it’s connected.
In addition, investigators have not linked any of the disappearances to each other or if it’s connected to a gang turf war in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
