An almost 150-year-old chapel nestled in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia has been snapped up by a new owner for little more than $900,000.
The 1860 church, which has been converted into a bed and breakfast and wedding venue, was sold on December 27 for $915,000.
Located in the small township of Hay Valley, the previous owner spent 20 years renovating the “idyllic” chapel, according to its Domain listing.

The 2,012m² property has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and room for five cars.
Key features include heritage doors, gothic windows, under-floor heating, high ceilings and a fireplace.
And while the 0.4ha site offers “evergreen, country farm views” there is another, slightly more unusual feature — the property also has a private cemetery dating back to 1939.
The property is just 10 minutes from Mount Barker, the closest regional city, and 15 minutes away from the historic German town Hahndorf.
According to Domain, the church was last sold in 2000 for $69,000.
