Coachella 2024 live: Who’s playing today, how to watch and more

Colombian superstar Shakira has made a surprise appearance at Coachella, rising up on an elevated platform behind Argentine DJ Bizarrap in a firey dress and oversized aviator shades.

The pair performed their hits “La Fuerte” and “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53.”

Shakira also took the opportunity to announce her first world tour since 2017.

In advance of their headline set on the Mojave stage tonight, British DJ duo Anti Up have been distributing their very own $100 bills. The Independent’s team on the ground captured the below image – but no news yet as to whether they’re legal tender at the festival’s famously overpriced food tents…

Philadelphia-born rapper Lil Uzi Vert brought a huge crowd to the main Coachella stage on Friday evening, delivering hits including “Do What I Want” and “The Way Life Goes” and coquettishly telling the massed audience he’s got a secret to tell them. “I think you might already know… I love you, and I hope you love me too.” The screams of “Uzi” he gets in response leave him in no doubt about that one.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted the Irish actor down the front for her Coachella set, and captured him filming Carpenter while looking altogether smitten.

Just weeks after the release of Beyoncé’s acclaimed country album Cowboy Carter, Coachella is filling up with dedicated followers of fashion kitted out as if they’re off to the rodeo. Coincidence? We think not.

Regular readers will know how much I detest the 21+ drinking pens at Coachella (Frequently I’ve found myself penned inside a drinking cage like a battery hen, screaming internally: “My kingdom for a cider bus!”), so I was delighted to hear that they’ve relaxed the rules this year.

Tottenham-born MC Skepta is on the Sahara stage right now, roaring through “Show Out”, his 2020 collaboration with Kid Cudi and Pop Smoke. He’s a long way from North London, but there’s plenty of fans rapping along to every word in the crowd.

Sabrina Carpenter has gone all out with her set design: She’s constructed a baby-blue roadside motel onstage, complete with a crashed car and some watching cacti. She first appears onstage riding a neon heart-shaped sign before climbing through a motel window and thrilling the crowd with her single “Fast Times”. “Coachella scream!” she instructs following a guitar solo, and the audience are only too happy to oblige.

Chappell Roan has just whipped off her oversized tweed suit on the Gobi stage to reveal a bodysuit reading: “Eat Me”. A real pop star move. Backed by a three-piece band, the artist billed by no less than Elton John as a ‘queer pop superstar in the making’ had opened with a thrilling rendition of last year’s “Femininomenon”.
