When Christopher Briney first captivated audiences as the brooding Conrad Fisher (and thus sparking a spirited “Team Conrad” fanbase) on The Summer I Turned Pretty, he surely had no idea that he would soon be tasked with filling another heartthrob’s shoes: Mean Girls’ Aaron Samuels. But this past weekend, the actor officially stepped into the role as the musical reboot dominated box offices, albeit swapping Aaron’s original kicks for a pair of Prada lug-sole Oxfords.
In the midst of the film’s press tour, Briney jetted to Milan for the Prada fall 2024 menswear show where he enjoyed patronizing local ristorantes: “I’ve had the chance to hit a few different spots, try some risotto, some pastas,” he tells Vogue. “Food is better over here.”
Briney’s presence at the show feels like a real moment for the 25-year-old actor to become a bona fide fashion star. He certainly has the reverence for the clothing and craftsmanship. “I like to start with a shower, especially since the clothes I’ve been lucky enough to wear are so nice, I feel like I have to do my part, too,” he says of his morning before the show.
A native New Yorker, Briney is no stranger to outerwear, though he’s now mixing Italian luxury into his secondhand-heavy wardrobe. “New York gets cold and you need some good outerwear to get through the winter,” he says. “I have a bunch of coats and jackets that I’ve thrifted and worn the shit out of the past few years, but it’s fun to find new ways to do it, layering, putting something oversized on top.”
