Former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., hailed pop music superstar Taylor Swift amid criticism she is facing from some conservatives Wednesday.
“Taylor Swift is a national treasure,” Cheney wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Some parts of social media have been flooded with conspiracy theories about the singer, and the speculation that the NFL is fixing games so that Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, can go to the Super Bowl and win it, and endorse President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign while at the championship football game.
“I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month,” former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy wrote on X Monday.
“And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall. Just some wild speculation over here, let’s see how it ages over the next 8 months,” Ramaswamy continued.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper mocked conspiracy theories about Swift, the NFL and the Democratic Party Tuesday on his show “The Lead.”
“Far-right conspiracy theorists certainly don’t seem to be following Taylor Swift’s advice to just ‘Shake It Off,’” Tapper said.
