Charges laid in Sydney crash that claimed lives of father and daughter: DiDi driver accused of negligence

A man has been charged over a horrific crash that killed a father and his young daughter in Sydney’s west earlier this year.

Thai Duong, 41, and his daughter Haili, 12, were backseat passengers in a DiDi vehicle when it collided with a ute on Milperra Rd in Milperra on May 26.

Duong and Haili died at the scene, while Duong’s 10-year-old son Justin, who was also seated in the back, was pulled from the wreck.

The 52-year-old DiDi driver was hospitalised in a serious but stable condition, while the 19-year-old ute driver suffered minor injuries.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

On Thursday night, four months after the crash, the DiDi driver was charged with two counts of negligent driving occasioning death and two counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle.

He was granted bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on November 6.
