Catherine, Princess of Wales, said to have turned a corner in cancer battle: ‘Doing a lot better’

Catherine, Princess of Wales is reported to have “turned a corner” in her cancer battle, according to a source close to the royal family.

Kate has been largely out of the public eye since revealing she had cancer in an unconventional video shared by palace officials more than two months ago.

“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery,” she said in the video.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.”

After undergoing planned abdominal surgery in London earlier in the year, and enduring weeks of speculation around her health, the 42-year-old princess revealed in the video she was in the early stages of cancer treatment.

A family friend of Kate has now told Vanity Fair: “It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better.

“It has, of course, been a very challenging and worrying time.

“Everyone has rallied around her — William, her parents, and her sister and brother.”

Kate, William and their children are currently living at Anmer Hall on Sandringham Estate, which was a gift to the couple from the late Queen Elizabeth for their 2011 wedding.

Prince William has been seen at a number of official royal engagements while Kate has been at home recovering, with some reports suggesting she is not likely to return to work until next year.

“There is no timeline, and there is certainly no hurry,” the Vanity Fair source said.

“It will be when Catherine feels ready and when she gets the green light from her medical team.

“But she will 100 per cent be coming back to work, of that there is no question.”
