Western Bulldogs defender Liam Jones is free to face Hawthorn in an elimination final after escaping with just a fine for his dangerous tackle on the weekend.
But Carlton will be without Matt Owies after he copped a ban for a similar tackle.

Jones was the first to find himself in hot water when he tackled GWS Giants forward Aaron Cadman just 18 seconds into the Bulldogs’ victory in Ballarat.
Cadman collected a bouncing ball inside 50 before his right arm was quickly wrapped up by Jones, who brought him to ground and gave away a free kick.
The Giants young gun did not leave the ground for a formal assessment and that may have saved Jones.
The match review officer assessed the incident as low impact, rather than medium, which was enough to result in just a fine.
It clears the way for Jones to take on the Hawks in what will be his 200th AFL match and first final.
Hours later, Owies wrapped up St Kilda match-winner Jack Higgins and took him down — winning a free kick in the process.
But the match review officer saw it differently.
Owies has also been handed a one-match ban, with his tackle graded as medium impact, careless conduct and high contact.
The Blues are yet to announce their intention to challenge the suspensions but would appear likely to go to the tribunal given his importance to the forward line.
A greater focus on dangerous tackles has defined the past two AFL seasons, with the situation coming to a head in July when two bans were overturned on appeal.
Charlie Cameron (Brisbane) and Toby Bedford (GWS) both escaped three-match suspensions that were originally backed by the tribunal.
The Dogs will host Hawthorn next Friday night before Carlton clash with Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Melbourne will head to the tribunal on Tuesday night after Kysaiah Pickett was hit with a three-match ban.
Pickett is staring down being suspended from the opening rounds for the second year in a row, having been punished for a bump on Collingwood captain Darcy Moore on Friday night.
The Dees will challenge the rough conduct classification of a hit graded careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.
