Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs is set to make his season debut.
Head coach Rick Tocchet confirmed to reporters Sunday that the 23-year-old will get the start in net against the Anaheim Ducks.
Silovs has not played an NHL game since March 6, 2023. He appeared in five games in total with the Canucks last season, recording a 2.75 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
The Latvian is currently up with the club serving as the backup to Casey DeSmith while regular starting goaltender Thatcher Demko is out with an injury.
In 33 games with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks this season, Silovs has a 15-11-6 record, 2.74 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.
Tocchet also confirmed that star forward Elias Pettersson would be in the lineup on Sunday after he took a “maintenance day” on Saturday and missed practice.
Despite not playing on Saturday, the Canucks (45-20-8) officially clinched their spot in the post-season thanks to results from their Western Conference opponents.
