It wasn’t a great scoring day for Adam Hadwin, but the Canadian did enough to stay on top of the leaderboard at the end of his second round at the Memorial.
The Abbotsford, B.C. golfer shot an even-par 72 in the second round of the PGA Tour signature event on a windy Friday and had a one-shot lead going into the clubhouse.
Hadwin had a 6-under 66 in the first round and held a one-shot lead over world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who has an afternoon tee-off time on Friday.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout is also one shot behind Hadwin after the South African shot a 67 in the second round.
The Canadian was 2 under through 16 holes in the second round, but found two bunkers on the par-4 17th en route to a double bogey.
Hadwin is 59th in the world golf rankings and third amongst Canadians heading into the Olympic cutoff after next week’s U.S. Open. The top two Canadians after that tournament will get into the Paris Games.
Nick Taylor leads the way at No. 30 and Corey Conners holds the second spot at No. 45.
