Caitlyn Jenner appearing at NY event around trans athletes in girls sports

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (NewsNation) — Caitlyn Jenner will speak at an event around one of New York’s biggest counties’ efforts to ban transgender athletes from women’s athletics, NewsNation confirmed.

“Men don’t belong in women’s sports. Period,” Jenner said last week on X.

Jenner, a former Olympic decathlete who came out as a transgender woman in 2015, has been an avid voice against transgender athletes in women’s sports. Most recently, she defended Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s decision to sign a restrictive policy for transgender athletes.

Now, she may be joining Blakeman’s effort to ban athletes who are born as male from participating in female sports on county property.

Jenner is expected to travel to Long Island, New York, on Monday to make an announcement regarding the executive order.

The order, signed last month, is intended to protect girls from unfair competition with biological boys, official say. The order defines an individual’s gender as their biological sex at birth, not whether they identify as transgender.

The move not only bans transgender athletes from girls’ sports but also bans them from girls’ locker rooms, a change that took effect immediately.

Nassau County is not only banning the practice in Blakeman’s county, but he is also barring all girls’ sports teams and leagues from participating in competitive sports unless they agree to ban transgender competitors at Nassau County’s 100 ball fields and athletic facilities.

“It is an unfair advantage for someone who is a biological male to compete against a biological female,” Blakeman said. “And again, I view this as a form of bullying, and it will not be tolerated. We tolerate no bullying in Nassau County.”

Twenty-four states currently have some form of ban against transgender athletes.
