Brazilian influencer dies from butt lift operation

A popular Brazilian influencer is the latest to die from a controversial butt lift surgery that has killed dozens of women around the world.

Aline Ferreira, 33, had polymethyl methacrylate applied to the buttocks at the unlicensed Ame-se clinic in Goiânia on June 23. She died Tuesday from complications related to the surgery.

Like other victims, she wanted to boost her butt.

According to Correo Brazilenze, a preliminary medical report indicated that Ferreira was in a coma and then suffered cardiac arrest incidents last Friday and again on Sunday.

Initially, there were no signs of trouble, her husband told Brazilian media. She returned to their Brasilia home on the day of the operation and appeared to be recovering.

But the next day she woke up with a fever.

Biomedical scientist Grazielly da Silva, who owns the clinic and performed the procedure on Ferreira, was arrested Tuesday. But da Silva insists she did not inject polymethyl methacrylat into Ferreira’s buttocks.

The dead woman’s husband allegedly was told by da Silva when he showed up at the clinic detailing his wife’s fever that “it was normal and that she should take medicine for the fever.”

On June 26, Ferreira woke up with piercing abdominal pain. The next day she fainted and was taken to a local hospital where she stayed until Saturday before entering into private care.

Her family claims that da Silva injected 30 ml of polymethyl methacrylate to each of her buttocks, according to the Metropoles news outlet.

Da Silva countered the allegations, insisting that she had only applied a bio stimulator and suggesting that the infection was caused by the bedsheets at the influencer’s home.

The use of polymethyl methacrylate is restricted.

The country’s National Health Surveillance Agency said that the injectable gel should only be used to treat serious diseases, such as polio, in the event they provoke the development of body deformities.

Cops shut down da Silva’s clinic because it didn’t have a legitimate health licence and was not registered with the Regional Council of Biomedicine of Goiás.

Ferreira — a mother of two — was best known for posting fashion and travel content on her social media platforms.

Meanwhile, a Philadelphia woman has been arrested and charged with stealing COVID-19 relief funds meant for a Florida town and used the cash for luxury goods — and a Brazilian butt lift.

Ashley Stibbins-Parker, 30, is facing charges including fraud, money laundering and grand theft in excess of $100,000, court documents reveal.

Cops say Stibbins-Parker managed to get hold of a $184,000 cheque mailed in February 2021 from the county to the City of Weston, Florida.

And, on March 30, 2021, she went to Adore Plastic Surgery and paid more than $6,200 for a medical procedure listed as “fat transfer to buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift) Liposuction.”
