A 34-year-old Brampton man is accused of trafficking a 16-year-old girl for sexual purposes.

Durham Regional Police said members of the human trafficking unit, with help from the East Division criminal investigations branch, conducted an investigation into an online advertisement for sexual services provided by a female believed to be underage.

The investigation confirmed that the female was 16 years old and was staying at a residence in Brampton. The female was found and brought to safety without incident.

On Thursday, members of the human trafficking unit went to the same residence in Brampton and the accused was seen leaving the residence in his vehicle. Police initiated a traffic stop and took the male into custody without incident.
Dane Gifford is charged with procuring/exercising control of a person under 18 and advertising another person’s sexual services. He was released on an undertaking.
