A 14-year-old boy is accused of stabbing a man while breaking into a unit on the Cairns waterfront.
The boy allegedly broke into the Esplanade unit about 5am on Saturday, waking up the 29-year-old man and sparking a “short altercation”, police said.
The boy allegedly stabbed the man in the chest before running from the scene.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition.
The wound was not life-threatening.
Police investigating the incident arrested the boy on Charles St in North Cairns on Tuesday morning.
They charged him with wounding and unlawfully entering a dwelling.
They also charged him over the alleged theft of a car from a Gordonvale premises on April 12.
He has been refused bail to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on Wednesday.
