Bill Maher slams celebs who vowed to flee U.S. under Trump

Comedian Bill Maher had fun on his late-night show calling out Hollywood liberals for previously vowing to leave the United States while Donald Trump was president.

While discussing the current state of late-night comedy, Maher used his closing monologue on Real Time to take down celebrities and other Americans who complained about living under Trump’s rule.

Maher started with politicians, referring to a progressive state representative candidate in New Hampshire who posted on social media saying, “I need to get the f*** out of this country.”

Maher railed, “Again, I’m confused by this political message: ‘Vote for me because I hate it here.’”

He continued, “Now, does America have big problems? Yes. I’ve often cited the ‘America sucks’ list.”

Maher went on to discuss how the country is “54th in the world in infant mortality behind Cuba, 19th (in) literacy behind Russia, 72nd in female representation in government behind Iraq,” and admitted there’s a lot of work to do.

“Is it possible for a country to lose itself so much that leaving it is justified?,” he asked. “Yes, but we’re not there yet. Not by a long shot. And we don’t need quitters. We need people who will stay and fix it.”

He mused: “Maybe the problem isn’t that America isn’t worth defending.”

But Maher then posed, “Maybe the problem is that lots of people today are entitled whiners who have no perspective and no idea how good they have it,” to which the audience cheered.

The Club Random podcast host then laid into “liberal celebrities” like Miley Cyrus, Lena Dunham, Cher, Snoop Dogg, Susan Sarandon and many others who have sworn “they’ll go if a Republican is elected and no one ever does.”

He noted: “Miley Cyrus once said ‘I am moving if Trump is my president. I don’t say things I don’t mean.’

“[But] here she is looking miserable having to endure America at the Grammys. I guess she flew back from Tajkisistan.”

Maher also mentioned how comedian Eddie Griffin threatened to move to Africa if Trump won in 2016, and George Lopez joking that the U.S. “won’t have to worry about immigration.”

“George Lopez, still here. And it doesn’t look like the migrant traffic is going back.”
