“It doesn’t have to be a disaster,” Maher told The Rubin Report host Dave Rubin in an episode released Tuesday.

“There is still time. Absolutely there is still time not only to make it not a disaster but to make it a huge positive.”

Maher also said there is no way Biden can be the best option against Republican nominee Donald Trump in November’s election.

“This is a great opportunity,” he added. “America likes new.”

Later in the interview, Maher suggested the country wants “new characters” after nine years of watching “Uncle Joe” and “Crazy Fat Trump” dominate the airwaves.

“New characters on this sitcom, just get everybody who is not 100 years old, got a D [Democrat] by their name, and is sort of a centrist, and you can win this election. Just give us that choice. Just give us a choice because now it’s not a choice for a lot of people.”

Maher said the continuous calls for Biden to drop out of the race from some party members and celebrities will eventually convince the President that it is time to leave.

“Pressure will keep building,” he said. “I would put money on it that he’s just not going to be the candidate.”

Despite the public pressure, Biden has repeatedly said he will remain in the race, citing the belief that he is in the best position to beat Trump for a second time.

Maher also clarified that while he believes Biden is too old to run again, he doesn’t think the President is senile.

“He’s terrible in public. He’s terrible when you put him under pressure with his stuttering and his age, yes,” he said, before adding that Biden hasn’t “lost his marbles.”

“Yes, trust me, he has his marbles, he could make the right decision,” Maher added. “He’s not crazy, he just shouldn’t be president. It’s a day-to-day job.”
