Best portacot for parents: Best Picks reviews Bugaboo Stardust Plus portacot

A good travel cot is worth its weight in gold.

While it’s not one of the first things you’d necessarily think about before having a baby, if you’re someone who enjoys a bit of travel here and there, you’re going to need a good bed for your baby.

And it should be one that ensures you can get some adequate shut-eye, too.

Enter the latest and greatest in portacots: the Bugaboo Stardust Plus ($499).

Since its debut in 2021, the Bugaboo Stardust portacot has been celebrated for its ultra convenient one second unfold.

And now, it has been re-launched to make naptime easier than ever before, with the enhanced new model featuring a zip-in bassinet suitable for newborns.

An all-in-one design that unfolds in one second, the cot — which comes in black and desert taupe — is, quite simply, a must-have for parents.

Not only is it lightweight at just 7.58kg for lugging between train and plane, but it’s stylish, suitable for kids between 0 and two years old and super easy to manoeuvre and set up.

Its one-piece design folds up quickly and easily and it comes with a mattress included, so all you need to think about is a cot sheet when you go away.

There is also a built-in bassinet function for young babies.

So if your child is under six months and you’re worried about them rolling around, this cot will ensure you never need to worry again.

Having road tested this cot for the past few weeks, and while away on holiday with my two-year-old daughter recently, I can safely say it’s an absolute must-buy for parents.

We loved how intuitive and easy it was to set up and put down.

Not only this, my daughter slept the best she has ever slept (Sunshine? Swimming? Or the cot? Who knows) while away for the week.

If you need to wash the cot, that’s super easy too.

Simply wipe clean with damp cloth if necessary.

The mattress can also be washed separately at 30C.

I’m not the only one raving about the new enhanced Bugaboo Stardust.

The cot has an impressive 4.8 star rating from more than 200 reviews on the Bugaboo website.

“I bought this to go on holiday with my eight month old a few times this month,” one shopper wrote.

Love the Bugaboo style as it folds flat and has high sides so feels safer.”

Another added: “Amazing travel cot. Super comfortable, easy to use, plenty of room and lightweight”.

While a third said: “I bought this and the ease of set up is a relief. It is also very compact which is helpful for our trips. I love the simplicity of it. It just took a few minutes on Google for the initial set up”.
