Best new smartphone: Amazon launches Samsung S24 on pre-order for Android customers

If you’ve been waiting patiently for the latest Samsung smartphone to drop, you’re in luck.

Amazon has just released its pre-orders for the new mobile devices, with a range of special extras.

Due to be officially released on February 7, the Samsung S24 range is on another level of future tech.

The inclusion of ‘Galaxy AI’ allows the use of AI-assisted features such as Live Translate, Photo Assist and Note Assist.

With Live Translate, you can listen to foreign languages on the other end of the phone line in your preferred language and not have things get lost in translation.

And you can be your most productive self and make long stories short with Note Assist, thanks to AI.

Forget about feeling overwhelmed with information when you can table your notes or shopping list and summarise your points before sharing with colleagues or responding to emails.

One of my favourite new features is the ‘Circle to Search’ offering, which works with the help of Google.

You can search for your favourite outfit, celebrity or landmark just by ‘circling’ the desired object or person in virtually any picture — and search will deliver you information about it.

Like similar models, the Photo Assist has been upgraded on the new Galaxy S24 series.

It allows you to resize, retouch and remaster your images, as well as remove unwanted objects and reflections.

Samsung owners won’t miss a shot with a 50MP camera and three times optical zoom.

You’ll be able to capture the finest details in your images with Nightography zoom, so you can shoot your favourite night time moments in low light but with high resolution.

The standard Samsung S24 is on pre-order for $1,399, the Samsung S24+ is listed from $1,699 and the Samsung S24 Ultra starts at $2,199.

Amazon is also offering those who pre-order double the storage amount — so if you order a 1TB sized phone you’ll only pay the price of the 512GB variant — and up to $150 in Amazon credits.
