Best new hyaluronic acid: The Ordinary has re-formulated its best-selling hyaluronic acid. Here’s why

In the world of beauty, it’s not often you see something be re-formulated.

Brands would sooner release a new product than work on and improve an existing item, because the beauty industry is all about hype and newness.

Not so the case for The Ordinary.

Since the cult skincare brand launched in 2016, The Ordinary has made a huge name for itself for science-backed products that work excellently and don’t cost the earth.

And with its latest launch, the brand hasn’t created anything new — but rather re-formulated an existing best-seller.

The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 ($15.90) has for the first time been re-formulated in order to include five types of hyaluronic acid and ceramides.

It has also done away with that tacky feeling you so often get when applying a hyaluronic acid.

This formulation contains five forms of hyaluronic acid, which helps provide hydration to multiple layers of the surface of skin.

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant found naturally in the skin where it binds to water.

The forms included are low, medium and high-molecular-weight molecules, a HA crosspolymer, and hydrolysed HA.

The result of The Ordinary’s new and improved work is a hydrating serum that instantly hydrates and plumps, while smoothing texture and wrinkles.

After testing the new serum over the past few weeks, I can attest to the power of the new $15.90 product.

Not only does it instantly plump up my skin in results that feel like they last all day, but my complexion feels smoother and more supple as a result of using it.

You don’t have to take my word for it either.

After testing the product on others, The Ordinary found the serum suitable for all skin types and effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines and crow’s feet.

Those who have also got their hands on it ahead of the launch have raved on Instagram.

YESSSSS!! It’s SO good. Been using it for two weeks now and GAME CHANGER. Love the new texture!” one shopper wrote.

“I’m obsessed, been using this for the last week and it’s incredible, it absorbs so fast,” another added.

When it comes to where this should sit in your regime, The Ordinary is very clear with instructions.

A hyaluronic acid should follow your cleanser but be applied before moisturiser, as the product works to attract moisture from the air to your skin.

You can also use it both in the morning and at night.
