Gone are the days when shoppers would line up outside Myer and David Jones in the city centres to be let in at the crack of dawn on Boxing Day to secure the best deals.
While this certainly made for an entertaining start to December 26, the rise of online shopping has helped customers — and retailers alike — lock in cheaper deals that you can shop from the comfort of your own home.
But as we get closer to the final sale day of the year, some retailers have posted their sales early, allowing you to pick out a treat or two even before Santa has visited.

Not one to shy away from a bargain price I’ve been having a look at THE ICONIC, Adore Beauty, Myer and Surfstitch, among others, to gauge which deals are worth my hard-earned pennies.
So this is what I’d pull the trigger on ahead of December 26.
1. The Hidden Way Terry Kimono Towel, $99.99 down to $50
Mark my words — if you think these towel robes were big in 2023 they’re only going to get bigger next year.
I actually already own one from Spell — it’s pink and I couldn’t resist — but these are the perfect outfit to wear over your bikini down to the beach or around the house after a shower.
I tend to find the ultra plushy dressing gowns are too hot for most of the year, so the short sleeve kimono towel is a far more cost-effective option.
This one on Surfstitch is a beautiful cream colour, made from terry towelling material and is one-size-fits-most.
What’s more, it’s also half the retail price so who can resist.
2. Arms of Eve Sardinia Wrap Top, $119 with 25 per cent off
One of my favourite retailers, Arms of Eve, has already started its 25 per cent off sitewide deals.
I have this Sardinia Wrap Top and often pair it with the Positano Pants for relaxed drinks after a day at the beach, and you can currently get both for a quarter of their usual price.
On my current wishlist I’m looking at the Say My Name Charm Necklace which allows you to add up to eight characters to a chain and wear your name loud and proud.
It’s worth noting the only products not included in the sale are stacks and bundles.
3. Teva Women’s Original Universal Sandal in Blue Moon from Amazon, from $60
I am genuinely aware these shoes will not be for everyone but they sure as heck are it for me.
I’ve owned a few Tevas in my time but the blue moon insignia on these bad boys are taking modern day trekking to another level.
If you haven’t tried Tevas before, just know you’ll be stepping into one of the most comfortable pieces of breathable footwear there is and you can pair them with just about anything.
The pricing for these will change depending on what size you are, and there are more colours to choose from. I suggest you have a look before the sizes go.
4. R.M. Williams Lindfield Duffle Bag, $459 down to $321.30
Fan favourite R.M. Williams is notoriously bad at discounting its stock at the end of the year, with the popular Chelsea boots only going on sale once a year.
But it was actually this weekender bag from the brand that caught my eye this time around with a significant 30 per cent off saving as part of The Iconic’s end of season deals.
This would be perfect for my partner as it’s big enough to fit a few days’ worth of clothing inside of it but not so big that it looks like you’re going on an overseas trip.
The khaki colourway is the only one on sale this time around but I prefer it to the lighter colour, it’s less likely to get dirty over time.
5. Therabody SmartGoggles, $299 down to $249
Got a headache? Trying to sleep in a bright room? Need to calm down after a long day in front of the computer?
Therabody’s epic SmartGoggles are just the ticket for relaxing and calming down your nervous system.
They are the only eye mask powered by “SmartSense Technology”, the brand’s exclusive biometric sensor that customises treatments to lower your heart rate.
They can easily be brought in your handbag or travel suitcase for long-haul flights or just live on your bedside table for when you need to take a moment to yourself.
Over the holiday season there is no doubt these would definitely get a workout.
6. Bobbi Brown Holiday City Lights Mini Set from Adore Beauty, $54 down to $37.80
This year I definitely learnt to embrace eyeshadow sticks like never before.
They’re so easy to use — just swipe and smudge — to get the ultimate smokey eye look in seconds.
Bobbi Brown is well known for its eyeshadow sticks but this travel-sized kit also comes with a mascara so you can do your entire eye look and head out the door.
It’s currently 30 per cent off at Adore Beauty so I wouldn’t sleep on these.
7. Ecovacs DEEBOT N10 Plus Robot Vacuum Cleaner & Mop with Auto Empty Station from Godfreys, $999 down to $799.20
If you’re not on the robot vacuum trend already let 2024 be the year you invest.
These powerful AI-powered cleaning devices take all of the hassle out of keeping your hardwood floors, tiles and carpet clean so you can go back to enjoying your time away from work with ease.
This particular Ecovacs variety is top-of-the-range and currently on sale at Godfreys with $200 off.
It empties dust into a home station, can map out a special route in your home or just spot clean at random. The choice is entirely up to you.
What day is Boxing Day?
December 26 this year falls on a Tuesday.
What is Boxing Day?
Traditionally, retailers would start their Boxing Day sales on the 26th and they would last for only a day.
However, now the sales often go on for as long as a week, and they are both online and in physical stores.
Retailers including Myer, THE ICONIC, Catch, Adore Beauty, Sephora, Canningvale and more are expected to all have Boxing Day sales.
