It’s not easy maintaining neat facial hair – not least because you could soon find yourself juggling about three different devices to get the perfect shave on different parts of your face. Philips has been swimming against that tide for a while now, though, thanks to its OneBlade, which aims to do everything you need in one package.
It’s a trimmer and shaver at the same time, which is pretty handy. The Philips OneBlade 360 is currently priced at £54.99 and is a number-one bestseller on Amazon for trimmer and clipper combs.
You get a shaver with an optional comb to turn it into a trimmer, and the bundle also comes with a spare blade to keep you going for months. With a blade that promises to be 360, it means you can get all those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies as easily as possible.
A device this popular (and widely advertised) has the added benefit of thousands of customer reviews to vouch for its quality. Browsing these throws up some really glowing verdicts from users.
One happy customer wrote: “Excellent product for beard and stubble trimmer. Easy to use and clean.” Another expanded on their thoughts a little more, writing: “This gave me the closest shave I’ve ever had without using an actual razor, and even then it does better than some razor-shaves in my past… It’s light and easy to manipulate. It cuts on both sides, so you shave in both directions. Easy to clean. Best purchase in ages, hands down.”
Finally, a third user said: “Really like this product. Gives a very close shave all over. Quick and efficient. Lasts a decent time on charge”. Indeed it does promise to have a 60-minute battery life, and can be charged with a USB cable. Those are impressively happy write-ups, although there are a few ratings that bear checking out with more criticism in them.
One less pleased customer said: “It is important to note that it may take longer to shave compared to a conventional bladed razor.” Another agreed with this wholeheartedly, writing: “I feel I take longer shaving with it than with regular razers.” So, if you’re looking for a lightning-quick shave or trim each time, this is well worth knowing, but perhaps that’s the trade-off for the ease of getting everything in one.
There aren’t very many other all-in-one options out there that you could consider as alternatives to the OneBlade, but you could split things up. For example, if you already have a shaver, Philips has the Beard Trimmer Series 3000 for just £26.58 right now (reduced from £31.99 on Amazon), and it’ll do a great job with longer hair. On the flip side, if you already have a trimmer and need an electric razor, the Braun Series 3 ProSkin Style & Shave could be a great option for £64.99, down from £119.99 (and can do trimming too, although potentially a little less accurately).
Still, there’s nothing quite like the simplicity and one-device ease offered by the Philips OneBlade 360 – it’s the kind of investment you won’t regret.
