Bartender allegedly spiked drink, sexually assaulted patron

A Waterloo man is being accused of sexual assault after police allege his victim consumed a spiked drink at a Toronto hotel last year.

Toronto Police say the victim was staying at a hotel in the downtown core on Oct. 14, 2023.

At approximately 6 p.m. that day, the victim entered the hotel bar and was served drinks by the accused, who was employed as a bartender.

It is alleged the accused served the victim a mixed drink. “This is my special drink,” the accused told the victim, according to police.

Police say the victim blacked out after consuming the drink and the accused sexually assaulted the victim.

On Wednesday, Manish Patil, 35, was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Police believe there may be more victims and that the suspect may have worked at other hotels in the downtown core.

Investigators also released an image of the suspect.
