So then, I was palpably breathless to see whether they could live up to their own hype at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday, January 21, 2024, when they supported Bring Me The Horizon on their latest tour.
Hitting the stage with balaclavas and black industrial jackets, Bad Omens’ visual impact was more akin to that of a street gang than a goth band – but it was the perfect choice for them.
Frontman Noah Sebastian’s guttural vocals bordered on Earth-shattering in Artificial Suicide while he prowled the stage like a feral beast.
As the band stripped themselves of their masks, jackets, balaclavas, they showed off the creatures they truly were. At one point, Sebastian told the 20,000 in attendance to “unlock the cage and let out your most primitive self”. He led by example.
On the band’s final track, Dethrone, Sebastian was almost in a fistfight with himself. The fury and passion in his eyes could have cut a diamond. He didn’t have anything to prove to anyone, he simply had to release whatever was in him. Honestly, I’m quite jealous of the catharsis he probably experienced in that moment.
