An Australian online clothing retailer has collapsed suddenly, becoming the latest business to fall victim to rising costs and falling consumer demand.
Australian Made Clothes announced the shock closure via social media this week, confirming the e-commerce business australianmadeclothes.com.au would be shutting.
“We simply can’t continue operating,” the post read.
“We would like to thank all those who supported us, unfortunately with such small margins it wasn’t enough to keep it going.”
The company added it is with a “heavy heart” it will close its doors on Wednesday next week.
“Please keep supporting what businesses we have left supporting Australian Made,” it added.
The online retailer, which appears to have opened in 2020, is known for its Australian-made clothing and products.
Founder and chief executive James Bennett said the pandemic and increased competition from international retailers led to the “difficult decision”.
“It has been an incredible journey, and we are immensely proud to have served as a platform for Australian Made Clothes. We are grateful to our dedicated customers who have been with us on this journey,” he said.
“Thank you all so much”
Last minute items will still be available for order and delivery before the company closes next week.
