Aubrey Plaza Says She Watched ‘A Lot Of Fox News’ To Play Corrupt Journalist

Actor Aubrey Plaza said this week she “watched a lot of Fox News to research my role as a corrupt journalist” in “Megalopolis.” (Watch the video below.)

Plaza plays the power-hungry Wow Platinum in Francis Ford Coppola’s pet-project sci-fi movie, which updates a power struggle in ancient Rome.

“The Daily Show” guest host Desi Lydic led the former “White Lotus” star into the topic on Tuesday.

“In all seriousness, you play a morally corrupt journalist. How much Tucker Carlson footage did you have to watch to study for this character?” she asked, referring to the controversial host who was fired by the conservative channel.

The audience laughed and applauded.

“Actually, in all seriousness, I did watch a lot of Fox News to research my role as a corrupt journalist,” Plaza replied. “I did.”

“How high are your therapy bills now?” Lydic pressed.

High, very high,” Plaza cracked.

Their Fox News jag resumed a bit later when Plaza noted that Coppola constantly called her by her character name and still does.

She said she responds by slipping into character for a bit, then slipping out.

“Just start spreading conspiracy theories, just like Megyn Kelly,” Lydic sniped, invoking the name of another conservative former Fox News figure.
