Apartment fire in Meadowbank, Sydney forces evacuation of building

A person has been severely burned in an apartment fire in Sydney’s northwest.

Police and paramedics attended a fire on the top floor of a five-storey apartment building on Angas St in Meadowbank just before 4pm on Monday.

A man believed to be in his 40s suffered severe burns to the majority of his body.

He has been transported to hospital.

Residents of the apartment building have been evacuated and the fire has been extinguished.

“A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident has commenced,” NSW Police said.
