Ann Coulter deletes tweet calling Tim Walz's son sobbing 'weird'

(NewsNation) — Conservative commentator Ann Coulter deleted a tweet wherein she described Tim Walz’s son’s reaction to his Wednesday DNC speech as “weird.”

Gus Walz, 17, sobbed and repeatedly exclaimed “That’s my dad,” while clapping his hands as Gov. Walz gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention.

In response, Coulter quote tweeted a video of Gus’s reaction, adding, “Talk about weird.”

The choice of language was ostensibly a riposte to Democrats such as Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris, who began using “weird” as an insult to former President Donald Trump and JD Vance.

It has since been used by the figureheads of both parties in tit-for-tat fashion to describe one another.

By her own admission, Coulter deleted her tweet once she became aware Gus has learning disabilities.

“I took it down as soon as someone told me he’s autistic, but it’s Democrats who go around calling everyone weird thinking it’s hilariously funny,” Coulter wrote on X Thursday night.

Coulter rebuked the assumption she pulled the tweet due to public pressure when replying to a user.

“No, it was a friend who told me. I’m on vacation and didn’t see any ‘pressure.’ Democrats are the ones who decided it’s fine to call people weird.'”
