Stripping down has long been a way to protest grievances but a Vietnamese woman took nudity to a whole new level last week.

When Thuytrang Nguyen was told at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines that she had overstayed her visa and would be required to pay a fine before boarding her flight to Ho Chi Minh City, she opted to get naked rather than cough up some cash.

After refusing to pay the fine, the furious 34-year-old woman stormed off to the nearest washroom and, minutes later, emerged completely naked, according to the Manila Times.

Video of the incident showed Nguyen calmly walking to the security area in the departures hall, where she wound up at the body scanner. Airport workers followed the woman but appeared unsure how to handle the situation. Security personnel finally stopped her and tried to settle her down by giving her food, drink and clothing.

“She went straight to the public toilet at departures, and she walked out of there without any clothes on. We don’t know why she did that,” said Michael Ronald de Guzman of the airport police, according to the New York Post.

To compound matters, Nguyen could not speak Tagalog, the language of the Philippines, or English. Gen. Manuel Sequitin, the assistant GM of security at the airport, said staff used Google Translate to communicate with the woman.

Nguyen was initially prevented from leaving the Philippines because she was “psychologically incapacitated,” according to the Manila Times. She was allowed to fly home the next day.
