As the pair performed the hit song My Boo, Usher got up close and personal with Keys, wrapping his arms around her from behind and pressing his body against her, with his face against hers.
While Keys didn’t seem to mind, some people took to Twitter saying Usher was being a bit too forward.
“This is somebody’s wife,” one person complained, while another called Usher’s suggestive moves “freaky” and a bit “aggressive”.
“Usher needs to be stopped!” one viewer wrote.
Rap artists Mase and Cam’ron wondered how Keys’ husband, record producer Swizz Beatz, felt about it all.
On their YouTube show It Is What It Is, Cam’ron said, “He’s aggressive with people’s females, man.”
“Usher need prayer, for real,” Mase responded.
“Usher’s just gone behind that man’s wife.
“That’s his wife.”
“And he got a look on his face of deviousness,” Cam’ron added.
“But she got a face like, ‘calm down a little bit’ too.”
Swizz Beatz was watching the half-time concert live at the Allegiant Stadium with their children in tow.
Later, he took to Instagram to water down the online reaction to Usher’s performance with his wife.
“Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing,” he wrote.
“Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with two amazing giants!
“Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic.
“We don’t do negative vibes on this side, we make history.”
Responses to his magnanimous take on the situation were mixed.
“U a better man then me cuz I woulda break the damn TV,” one follower wrote.
“Posting another man grasping your wife’s behind is wild 😂,” said another.
“A grown man grabbed up on your woman with you and your 2 kids watching in attendance and you don’t care. Insane 😂,” wrote a third.
But others saw the performance for what it was — a great piece of showmanship.
“Marvelously Articulated Big Bro,” one fan wrote.
“This is what you call a secure man! I love this for them,” said another.
“That’s how you respond! Most definitely secure in his relationship,” agreed another.
One fan even suggested Usher’s bold move was calculated to get the internet buzzing.
“It’s no different from when u see actors on screen, it’s just a performance,” one follower wrote.
“It was strategic and it worked clearly lol, the internet runnin’ wild with it.”
