Vanuatu’s national carrier Air Vanuatu has reportedly entered voluntary administration.
Local media has reported that the company’s board was dissolved and Ernst and Young appointed as external administrator.
Flights to and from Brisbane Airport today and tomorrow have been cancelled.
The Vanuatu Tourism Office posted on its website it was aware of reports the airline had gone into administration and was seeking further information.
“At this stage, we are unable to share further information but are in contact with Air Vanuatu and the Vanuatu government and will share updates as they become available,” a spokesperson said.
“We are conscious of the impact this situation has on travellers, ticket holders and the industry and on behalf of the Vanuatu tourism industry, extend our apologies to anyone affected.
“Virgin Australia continues to fly to Vanuatu directly between Brisbane-Port Vila.”
Air Vanuatu and the administrator have been contacted for comment.
