Man, 32, accused of attacking seniors in Mississauga park

A 32-year-old man now faces charges in two unprovoked attacks on senior citizens in a Mississauga park.

Peel Regional Police say the two elderly men were assaulted just over a week apart and investigators allege the same assailant was behind both incidents.

In the first incident, police allege a 73-year-old Mississauga man was walking in the area of Applewood Hills Trail and Bloor St. when a man approached from behind and struck him with a weapon just after 1 p.m. on Sept. 19.

The attacker then fled the area.

The senior was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In the second incident, a 77-year-old Mississauga man was walking in the same area – near Applewood Hills Trail and Bloor St. – when a man approached from behind and struck him with a weapon around 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

The assailant then fled the area.

The elderly man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and arrested him on Friday.

Marcin Golebiowski, of Mississauga, is charged with aggravated assault, disobeying a court order and assault with weapon.
