Security guard injured in armed hold up at Canterbury Hotel in Sydney’s southwest

A security guard has been injured in an armed hold up at a pub in Sydney’s southwest.

About 1.02am on Tuesday, two men wearing dark clothing, face coverings and gloves entered the Canterbury Hotel on the corner of Canterbury Rd and Tincombe St, Canterbury.

One man was armed with a shotgun and the other with a pistol, and the pair threatened staff and patrons before stealing cash and fleeing the scene on foot.

A 38-year-old security guard suffered minor injuries during the robbery.

Officers established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police.

Shortly before the incident, a vehicle was seen to drive the wrong way down Tincombe St before stopping in Minter St.
