Kenny Hyslop and Ure both joined the band that became Slik in 1972, best known for their 1976 No.1 hit Forever and Ever.

They later changed their name to PVC2 before going their seperate ways.

In 1981, Hyslop joined the Scottish band Simple Minds, replacing their drummer Brian McGee.

With Simple Minds, Hyslop performed on the track Promised You a Miracle and joined the band on the first leg of their Sons and Fascination Tour.

A year after joining, he decided to depart.

“I had the pleasure of working with Kenny Hyslop on a local music/charity project a few years back, and he was simply a lovely guy.

“Very kind and fun. He kindly gave me several #SLIK items before he left Scotland. RIP Kenny.”

“Sad day he was a brilliant drummer,” a fan tweeted.
