Trump: Taylor Swift will likely 'pay a price’ for Harris endorsement

(The Hill) — Former President Donald Trump shrugged off Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, predicting Wednesday that the megastar may “pay a price for it in the marketplace.

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” Trump said during an interview with “Fox & Friends.”

“It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person,” the former president continued. “She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Instead, Trump praised Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who liked a post on Instagram from the GOP nominee last month.

In a post to her 283 million followers on Instagram, Swift announced that she is voting for Harris and her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who lauded the support, in November.

She said she would be voting for Harris “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

The pop star also cited fake images generated by artificial intelligence that suggested she was supporting Trump as a reason for sharing her endorsement.

Swift signed her message, “Childless Cat Lady,” a jab at GOP vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance’s, R-Ohio, past comments attacking Harris and other prominent Democrats.

The news came on the heels of the first debate between the two party nominees.
