Ashishkumar Chauhan: We will always agree with what SEBI says, have submitted F&O discussion paper, says NSE’s Ashishkumar Chauhan

Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, NSE, says the stock exchange has submitted its suggestions on F&O discussion paper, and is in line with what Sebi has asked for. He also explains what the two bulls – one outside and one inside NSE mean.

The Statue of NSE Bull at the headquarters of the National Stock Exchange at BKC Mumbai was inaugurated on September 6. What does it represent?
Ashishkumar Chauhan: It is showing the bull which represents India’s very resilient and progressive stock markets where people from all walks of life and all age groups are represented. It also suggests common prosperity and that finally India is marching forward together.

There are two replicas – one is outside and one inside. Is the outside one something different or completely the same?
Ashishkumar Chauhan: The outside of the building is basically for the tourists and the people who are not able to come into the NSE premises because NSE is a highly secure premises and that is where tourists or any other visitor to BKC in Bandra Kurla Complex want to take their pictures with the bull and every stock exchange has their bull statues. This bull is an Indian bull unlike other bulls that are very different. In our villages we see this desi bull and this represents India in many ways.

For us, it is a way to ensure that the common people can look at NSE and take photographs with the NSE bull.

Coming to the F&O discussion paper, have you submitted your suggestions to SEBI and are you in line with what SEBI is trying to bring in?
Ashishkumar Chauhan: We have submitted our suggestions, and are in line with what Sebi has asked for. We will always agree with what SEBI says.
