However, she took a holistic approach to her cancer journey, refusing to undergo a mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy — dismissing advice from “32 doctors and experts”.

On Wednesday, Sunrise’s US correspondent Tim Lester spoke about the superstar’s battle.

“It was a chapter of her life clearly very difficult and private,” Lester said.

“This is seven years ago, 2017, she was 53 years old. She talks about going to a beach in Miami to pray and meditate after a series of experts and doctors told her about her diagnosis.

“She said in all, 32 had advised her to follow the traditional course (surgery, followed by radiation, and chemo).

“She chose, she said, the toughest choice of her life, not to follow the traditional course. But to follow a course that was closer to her heart and she went to Phoenix, rented an apartment, and concentrated on her good health.

“She talks today about being fully in remission. She says she is healthy and can write about it.”

The Sydney-born supermodel spoke to the Australian Women’s Weekly about the diagnosis, saying it was a shock.

“It was a shock, it was unexpected, it was confusing, it was daunting in so many ways,” Macpherson told the magazine in an interview published this week.

“(But) it really gave me an opportunity to dig deep in my inner sense to find a solution that worked for me.”

She went on to say she wanted an “intuitive, heart-led, holistic” approach to healing.

“I came to the understanding that there was no sure thing and absolutely no guarantees. There was no ‘right’ way, just the right way for me,” she wrote in her book, quoted in the magazine.

“I chose an holistic approach. Saying no to standard medical solutions was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. But saying no to my own inner sense would have been even harder,” she added.

Macpherson previously found a cyst in one of her breasts in 2014, but it turned out to be benign.
