CRIME SCENE: Toronto man charged with 101 auto-fraud offences

Toronto Police have charged a man with scores of offences in an auto-fraud and re-vinning investigation.

In July, 2024, police learned a man was allegedly committing fraudulent vehicle transfers at Service Ontario locations and was allegedly responsible for several vehicle-related frauds going back back to November 2023.

Winkle Lejarde, 43, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with 15 counts of utter forged documents, nine counts of fraud over $5,000, six counts of attempt fraud over $5,000, nine counts of alter/remove vehicle identification number, six counts of attempt to alter/remove vehicle identification number, nine counts of forgery, nine counts of make document without authority, nine  counts of use document without authority, six counts of attempt to use document without authority, nine counts of obtain instrument based on forgery, six counts of attempt to obtain by instrument based on forgery, two counts of possess ID  document of another, possess Schedule I substance, four counts of possess Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possess proceeds of property obtained by crime.

ACCUSED SOUGHT FOR SUSPECTED HATE-MOTIVATED ASSAULT

Toronto Police are asking for help identifying a suspect in a suspected hate-motivated assault.

On Tuesday at 5:40 p.m., police received a radio call for an assault at the Finch West subway station.

Police say the alleged victim and suspect left a TTC bus onto the platform at Finch West station.

The accused allegedly hit in the victim in the face with an object, causing them to bleed.

Police alleged that the accused made death threats and anti-South Asian racial comments.

The victim and accused don’t know each other.

The suspect is described as 5-foot-8, with long black hair and was wearing black tights, a black zip-up jacket, and black shoes with a dark-coloured satchel.
