Luana Alonso kicked out of Olympic Village for ‘inappropriate’ behaviour
Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso has been making all kinds of waves at the Olympics in Paris — but none of it had to do with her performance in the pool.
Alonso has done all kinds of touristy things in Paris, sharing photos of her excursions on social media, but she was soon accused of “creating an inappropriate atmosphere” and, as a result, was evicted from the athletes’ dorms at the Olympic Village, Dan Bilicki reported.

“Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” Larissa Schaerer, the head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, said in a statement.
“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the athletes’ village.”
Alonso has since hit back at reports that she was bounced, insisting it was “false information” and she was “never removed of expelled from anywhere.”
But if there wasn’t a rift between the Paraguayan Olympic Committee and Alonso before, there might be now, after a video posted on social media before the Paris Games emerged in which the swimmer claimed to have wanted to “represent the United States,” not her home country. Yikes.

Seeing a leader wearing cultural pieces of clothing is all well and good but perhaps not when the city is contending with so many issues, Joe Warmington reports.
And instead of addressing the shooting of a police officer, seniors getting stabbed, the city’s overspending and countless demonstrations that often call for “intifada,” Chow ignored it all — at least, for a couple of hours — to slip into a barely-there costume as she danced in the streets.
Chow was accused by one on social media of choosing to ignore other events and groups that also deserve the mayor’s attention, while another asked her to do something about the “pro-terrorist groups that terrorize our streets every weekend.”
Others, however, got a kick out of Chow “having fun” and urged her to keep “doing a great job representing Toronto.”

Hotel responds after Serena Williams calls out Paris restaurant for turning away family
A classy joint in Paris wasn’t fazed when Serena Williams accused staff on social media of denying her and her children a table.
Rather, the hotel managed to compliment the tennis star while at the same time, putting her in her place — but in a way only a posh establishment such as The Peninsula could, according to Denette Wilford.
Incroyable!
