Aussie rower Tara Rigney has missed out on a medal in the final of the women’s sculls by the smallest of margins.
Rigney looked on track for bronze behind Dutchwoman Karolien Florijin and Kiwi Emma Twigg for much of the 2000m race.
But Lithuanian’s Viktorija Senkute stormed home to pip Rigney for third place and bronze.

It was heartbreak for the Aussie with the margin being just 0.53s.
Rigney was attempting to become the second Australian woman to win a medal in the event, following her mentor Kim Brennan, who won gold in the event in Rio in 2016 and bronze in London.
Florijn made a flying start and while Twigg attempted to challenge, the Dutch rower kept clear.
Twigg, the defending champion, looked like hauling in Florijn, but the Dtuch world champion held on for gold.
The women’s eight crew also missed out on a medal after flashing home for fourth in the final.
Meanwhile, Australia’s men’s eight crew has lost veteran Josh Hicks to a stomach bug, forcing a late change ahead of their final.
Hicks, 33, was withdrawn from the boat on the morning of Saturday’s medal race with Tim Masters, who rowed in the men’s four in Paris, taking his place.
