Orioles’ Jackson Holliday officially active for finale vs. Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays could face one of the most exciting young prospects in baseball Wednesday afternoon.

The Baltimore Orioles announced that top prospect Jackson Holliday has been recalled from triple-A ahead of the game.

Holliday, the first-overall selection in the 2022 draft, climbed the rankings quickly but was sent back to Norfolk earlier this year as his first visit to the pros didn’t go as planned. The 20-year-old was called up shortly after opening day and made his debut on April 10. He went on to appear in 10 games for the Orioles where he struggled, connecting on an abysmal 2-for-34 at the plate.

In the minors, Holliday has a .271 batting average with 10 home runs, 38 RBI and a .908 OPS with the Tide this season.

Additionally, newly acquired left-handed reliever Gregory Soto will be active for the Orioles. Soto has posted a 4.08 ERA and 11.21 strikeouts per nine innings in 43 games.

You can watch Holliday and the Orioles take on the Blue Jays at 12:35 p.m. ET / 9:35 a.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
